I am a Black Transnational feminist scholar, living the autoethnographic life
Dr. Anjuliet Woodruffe is a scholar, writer and storyteller on contemporary issues related to identity, transnationalism and home.
Dr. Anjuliet Woodruffe is a scholar, writer and Storytelling, life writing and performance center her teaching and research. Born and raised in Trinidad and Tobago, Dr. Anjuliet Woodruffe is a Black feminist scholar whose research intersects intercultural communication, relational communication, Black Transnational Feminisms, performance and critical cultural studies. Her pedagogical praxis uses decolonial research methods to explore representations of transnationals living in the United States. transnationalism and home.
Anjuliet earned a Ph.D. in Communication from the University of South Florida, in Tampa Florida. She has published in peer-reviewed journals including Cultural Studies <-> Critical Methodologies, International Review of Qualitative Research, Departures in Critical Qualitative Research and The Journal of Autoethnography. Her essay ” Surviving at the Margins: A Conversation about Identity with James Baldwin” Is part of the Best Journal Issue Award selection by the National Communication Association and has been featured on Medium. Anjuliet’s most recent publication, ” Conversations with my Son: A Poetic Autoethnography of Black Mothering Experiences” earned the Donald P. Cushman award from the National Communication Association (NCA). For the same publication,
Anjuliet was honored with the John T. Warren award by the Ethnography division of NCA. Dr. Woodruffe has taught at the University of Cincinnati in Ohio, the University of South Florida in Tampa, and Hofstra University in New York. Her areas of teaching focus on identity scholarship, border/boundary narratives and articulations of home, that incorporate contemporary cultural studies, Black feminist theory and qualitative methods such as autoethnography and storytelling as well as critical methods to examine issues of power and privilege. Dr. Woodruffe is Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at the Charles Phelps Taft Research Center, and faculty affiliate to Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at the University of Cincinnati. Anjuliet is available for talks, lectures, conferences, and seminars.
